Now Selling & Renting Sokkia/Topcon Robotic Total Stations + iDig 2D Machine Control
Big news for surveyors, engineers and contractors across Central Texas: United Surveying Supplies is now a verified vendor for the Sokkia/Topcon line of robotic total stations, and we’re adding iDig 2D machine control for excavators to our lineup.
Whether you need a robotic total station for your next layout job or real-time depth and slope guidance inside your excavator cab, you’ll soon be able to buy it, rent it and get support for it right here in Round Rock, Texas. Consider this your first look. Full details, pricing and rental availability are coming soon.
Sokkia/Topcon Robotic Total Stations: Now Selling & Renting
You probably know these instruments by one of two names: Sokkia or Topcon. The two brands have long been tied together, and while they are in the process of separating, the robotic total stations themselves are the same proven technology Texas survey crews already trust.
As a verified vendor, United Surveying Supplies can now sell the Sokkia/Topcon motorized robotic total station lineup, including the iX-700/1500 series and the iX-500/1000 and 600/1200 series.
A robotic total station lets one person run the instrument from the prism pole while the instrument tracks the prism automatically. That means fewer people tied up on layout, faster stakeout and more productive days in the field.
Featured Instrument: Sokkia iX-1503 Robotic Total Station
The instrument we’ll be putting front and center is the Sokkia iX-1503, part of the flagship iX-1500 series built for jobsite mobility and demanding survey and construction work.
Why the iX-1503 is our go-to pick:
- 3-second angle accuracy for everyday construction layout, topo and boundary work
- Single-operator robotic workflow with automatic prism tracking
- Flagship iX-1500 platform built for mobility on busy job sites
- Available to purchase or rent from our Round Rock shop
Need tighter accuracy? The iX-1500 series also includes 1-second and 2-second models (iX-1501 and iX-1502), and we can help you compare options for your crew.
Robotic Total Station Rentals in Round Rock
The iX-1503 will also be joining our surveying equipment rental fleet, alongside the TAS-Z1 total station and the Oscar Trek GNSS receiver. Renting a robotic total station is a smart way to cover a short-term project, add a second crew, keep working while your instrument is in for calibration, or try robotic before you buy.

Coming Soon: iDig 2D Machine Control for Excavators
Our second big addition is iDig 2D machine control. Systems arrive at our Round Rock shop this week, and we’ve added a dedicated machine control specialist to our team to handle sales and installation.
2D machine control uses sensors mounted on the excavator’s boom, stick, bucket and body to calculate the position of the bucket’s cutting edge. Once the operator sets a target depth or slope, an in-cab display shows in real time whether the bucket is above, below or right on grade.
What that means on the job:
- Less stopping to check grade with a rod or tape
- Less over-excavation, rework and wasted backfill
- Fewer workers in the trench while the machine is running
- No GPS base station or correction subscription required for 2D work
- Wireless Bluetooth sensors with solar-powered, magnetic mounts
- An upgrade path to 3D GPS/GNSS machine control when your projects demand it
iDig 2D is a great fit for trenching, utilities, drainage, foundations, ponds and detention basins, slope and batter work, and general site prep.
